Owyn in the Bloodworks

Owyn is a Редгард who is the Blademaster in charge of the Arena Bloodworks. He can always be found at the far end of the training room in the Bloodworks. If you wish to fight in the Arena, you will need to talk to him and endure his put-downs to convince him that you are worthy to fight. Before each match (at least until you reach the Grand Champion match) you will sign up for the fight with Owyn, at which point he will give you a few useful pointers about your opponents. After the fight, you will collect your reward from him.

Owyn wears an iron cuirass, greaves, guantlets and boots. He carries a leveled longsword and a small amount of gold.

According to a crumpled note on the floor (to the right of the cabinet containing the arena raiments), Branwen is Owyn's illegitimate daughter. However, neither Owyn nor Branwen will talk to you about the subject.

He once asked Ysabel Andronicus to marry him, but was heartbroken when he was denied.

Unique Dialogue

Owyn's greeting when you talk to him the first time:

"I don't know who you are friend, but you've got about ten seconds to tell me what you're doing in my Bloodworks before I lop your arms off."

Select Owyn's dialogue option "Battle Matron," and he'll say:

"That's Ysabel Andronicus, crabby old woman who sits over there. She's dear to me, so if you wrong her in any way, I'll rip your damn liver out."

If you've joined the Arena and haven't progressed much in rank, ask him about rumors and he will say:

"I heard a rumor that you're an idiot. Any truth to that?"

After you kill 13 opponents in the Arena, which should occur after the fight in which you advance to the rank of Warrior, his rumor will change:

"Agronak is good, yeah. Too good. He says he's only half Orc. What I want to know is, what's the other half? Cause it sure ain't human..."'

In addition to his changed behavior, if you ask for a match after 9PM (but before 9AM) he will say:

"I know, I know! Sometimes I wish we'd run the matches through the night, too! But the Yellow Team needs their beauty sleep! Ha ha ha ha!"

New Greetings as Questline Progresses

Each time he greets you by after a match (but also after you've received your payment/rank advancement), his dialogue will change to something new.

After becoming a Hero in rank, beating the Altmer carrying the Gray Aegis will yield:

"You're at the end of a long road, Hero. This is the last time you'll face off against the Yellow Team before being named Champion. Go up to that Arena and make sure the people of Cyrodiil never forget that it was you who brought the Yellow Team to its knees!"

Once you've advanced to Champion:

"Hello, my friend! What can this grizzled old Blademaster do for you?"

Match Dialogue

At Hero rank, if you go into dialogue after setting a match and select Ready for a match once again:

"The match is all set, my friend! Now get up to that Arena and teach those Yellow Team maggots some manners!"

At Hero rank, when you are about to face the Yellow Team Champion:

"All right, this is it. Your last fight against the Yellow Team. I guess you could say they saved the best for last. The three best, actually. You're up against a swordsman, an archer and a spellcaster. Two lower level combatants, plus that Yellow Team Champion you've seen down here. You beat all three, and you get named Champion! I know you can do this! Now get up there and show everyone why you're the best! Oh wait, there's one more thing! I sent Porkchop the boar up to the Arena to help you out. He'll at least keep one of them distracted! Now good luck!" Speaking to him once more to initiate conversation will cause a different response than usual "Hey, something wrong? They're waiting for you up in the Arena!" and once you've won the match "You did it! You beat them, every last one! Do you know how long it will take for the Yellow Team to recover from this? Ha ha ha ha ha! My friend, it is with great honor that I advance you to the rank of Champion! You've done it! You've shown them all you're the best! Well, almost the best... You're done competing in normal Arena matches. But there's still the Grand Champion... Kid, you've got more guts. And skill. I think you can take the Gray Prince! Go over and talk to Ysabel if you think I'm right!"

At Champion rank, you can select ready for a match and he'll reply with:

"Ready? Ready for what? You're a champion now! The Grand Championship is the only thing left!"

As the Grand Champion, you'll receive similar:

"Ready? Ready for what? You're Grand Champion! You've already won it all! The whole damn thing! Ha ha ha ha ha!"
