Mahei is an Аргонианин scout living in Leyawiin. He is a basic trainer in Атлетика, a skill he no doubt picked up while running and hiding from his nagging wife, Numeen. They can sometimes be seen together, however, as they are both regular guests of the Countess at Castle Leyawiin.

Mahei wears a black & burgundy outfit and a pair of blue suede shoes. He carries his key and a large amount of gold.

Mahei introduces himself by referring to his difficult relationship with his wife: "I am Mahei... that poor fellow who is chased everywhere by that nagging fishwife, Numeen. Please. Just don't mention me to her, or she will burst into one of her tirades..." and brings it up again when asked about the city, "There are things I like to do. Does this never occur to her? Does she think I live each minute to run her errands for her? She wonders why she cannot find me? Doesn't it occur to her? That I am hiding from her?"

Mahei lives with his wife Numeen in the southeastern part of Leyawiin next to Alval Uvani. His dining room to the right of the main hall is typical of that of an upper-class citizen - silverware on the table as well as some food. On the cupboard next to the table are several silver dishes, while the cupboard in the back corner contains food. A wine cupboard containing vintage wines is located in an alcove to the right of the entrance to the room. The room leading to the pantry contains some wine and a locked chest containing clutter. The pantry has various crates, sacks and barrels, as well as a locked chest containing silverware and some gold. To the left of the main hall is a small sitting room with various benches and chairs, as well as some silverware both on the table and the two end tables. Connected to the sitting room is a small office, with two bookshelves with typical upper-class reading, such as The Wolf Queen, v 8 and Tamrielic Lore.

The second floor is divided into east and west sections, both locked. In the western section, a small hallway leads to an equally small sitting room containing a bookshelf filled with books, a desk and a chair. The main room in this section contains a double bed as well as a smaller twin bed, a bookshelf housing some guide and history books, two dressers with upper-class clothes and a locked jewelry box. There is also a small table and two chairs. The eastern section of the second floor contains another small hallway leading to a sitting room, this time with a bookshelf, a table and two chairs. The sitting room leads into the master bedroom, where Mahei and his wife sleep in a double bed. The bedroom also contains a desk, two open dressers, two clothes filled dressers, a small and a large bookshelf as well as a locked chest containing silverware and gold.

  • Between 10am and 1pm every day there is a 50% chance that the Countess will stop by Mahei's house to see Numeen. If so, Mahei will not provide training during that time period.
  • Mahei and Numeen are also known as the Derics: the key to their house is called the Derics' Key, and there are two rumors that refer to their constant bickering: "Have you heard the Derics arguing?" and "Have you seen the Derics recently? They're always bickering with one another."
  • It is likely that Mahei and Numeen were originally Бретоны. Almost no Argonians have a surname, and "Deric" is similar to other Breton family names ( Liric, Maric, Meric, Aric, Fransoric and Jenseric can be found in Morrowind and Oblivion). This would also explain Countess Alessia Caro's habit of dropping in to see them despite her dislike of beast races.
