Rimalus Bruiant in his house in Chorrol

Rimalus Bruiant is an Имперец noble living in Chorrol with his wife Rena, and their two dogs, Bailey and Kezune. They're well known around town as dog-lovers, but they have little importance in the game.

Rimulus’ fatal faction bug will most likely get him killed before he ever gets to experience a normal day, but he was intended to be a real homebody. He sleeps in the upstairs area every night between midnight and 6am then freezes up near his bed all day long. If the player is not inside the house, he eats two two-hour meals every day, at noon and 6pm respectively.

He wears a set of common middle-class clothing, consisting of a quilted doublet along with tan linens and a pair of doeskin shoes. He also carries the key to his house and a leveled amount of gold.

Speaking to Rimalus Bruiant will have him greet you by stating his name, and asking you if you've met his wife and dogs: "I'm Rimalus Bruiant. Perhaps you've met my wife, Rena? And our dogs, Bailey and Kezu?" Asking him about Chorrol will have him say; "Rena and I moved to Chorrol so we could have a nice, comfortable home for our dogs. It's a lovely town. And our dogs are so happy here." His wife concurs and will admit: "They probably call us 'the Dog People' here in town. Rimalus and I love dogs. We have quite a few. So sweet and well-behaved, you wouldn't believe."

In downtown Chorrol, puzzled citizens will often discuss the dog-obsessed couple. When asked for rumors or during private conversations they will say: "That Rimalus Bruiant sure loves his dogs. A little too much, if you ask me.", "I saw Rimalus Bruiant walking his dogs today. And yesterday. And the day before. I swear that's all he does.", "Have you seen the Bruiants and their dogs?" and "I think Rena Bruiant may actually love dogs more than her husband. Strange couple, those two." Others will respond with: "Odd folks, the way they dote on those dogs. They're not hurting anyone, though, so it's no concern of mine.", "I've seen them. Everyone likes a good dog, but they're an odd couple.", "I like dogs, but it's a bit excessive with those two folks." and "I've never been a huge dog lover myself, but some people really love them." Also, the two dogs has attracted the attention of an Орк local, namely Lum gro-Baroth: "Dogs are an orc's best friend. Good protection, good companions, good eats. The Bruiants have dogs. Lots of 'em."

Rimalus' house is on the northeast side of Great Oak Place in Chorrol, between the Chorrol Fighters Guild and Vilena Donton's house. A bookshelf across from the front door, beside the fireplace, holds a few books, including The Argonian Account, Book 4 and The Madness of Pelagius. To the north, the northern portion of a dining area holds two sets of drawers with clutter in them. On the table sit three tomatoes, two carrots, and a loaf of bread. The west end of the dining area holds a third set of drawers with clutter and another table that holds a cheese wedge and a loaf of bread. In the east corner of this level, a kennel sits at the foot of the stairs, while at the top a table is set with a cheese wedge and five strawberries next to a cupboard that holds drinks.

Another kennel sits on the balcony in the east corner of the second level. In the sitting area in the north corner, a desk holds clutter and possibly common books, while a chest of drawers holds more clutter on the top portion, clothing in the bottom. The bedroom in the west corner holds a cupboard that contains clothing, a set of drawers that hold clutter with a restore health potion on top of it, and a final chest that holds jewelry and may also contain more enchanted jewelry or potions. This chest is the only container on these two levels that does not respawn.

The door in the southern corner of the first floor leads to a set of stairs down to the basement. At the foot of the stairs sits a clutter cupboard next to two sacks with the same contents and a third that holds food, as well as a chest that can contain armor and/or weapons; the chest and sacks do not respawn. The shelves here hold two ears of corn, two loaves of bread, and a head of lettuce. A тыква lies on the floor in front of the shelves. The table on the northeast wall is set with three more ears of corn, another head of lettuce, and a second pumpkin. A barrel holds food in the north corner. In the west corner a cupboard holds drinks and a non-respawning chest holding gold and possibly jewelry lies under a table with a loaf of bread and a cheese wedge on top. The south corner holds two more food barrels and a cupboard with the same contents. Four garlic clusters hang from the post in the middle of the room. In the second room six more kennels are stored, while three pieces of boar meat and three pieces of rat meat lie in dishes on the floor. A clutter barrel that can also hold a repair hammer sits on the southwest wall along with a food barrel, and the same containers sit on the northwest wall.

  • When the player enters the house or encounters Rimalus in the streets, he will attack his wife and dogs. This is caused by Rena and her dogs Bailey and Kezune all being in the Bruiant Family faction, to which - oddly - Rimalus does not belong. In addition, it also appears to be due to his unusually high Aggression, which appears to be a mistake.
  • A bug may occur where Rimalus will follow the player everywhere, even if you fast-travel. He is actually only supposed to follow the PC if the player is at his house/basement, but his target is set as PlayerRef and as such, he will follow the PC everywhere. The package only lasts for one hour, so he will return to his normal duties after a short while.
  • Rimalus will freeze up next to his bed because his default homeowner package is set to nothing.
  • Rimalus was supposed to pray at the Chapel of Stendarr every Sundas between 10am and noon.
